Introduction

Electronic security applications are rapidly evolving alongside consumer demand which continues to grow. Like other technologies which were once considered state of the art, time and a competitive marketplace has changed the perception of electronic security so it is now suitable for many applications. Development and standardisation of components has made installation significantly easier for installers, but there are still some key skills required to ensure installations are successful and run according to time.

Purpose of learning

One of the largest issues facing locksmiths and other trades people today is how to accomplish further professional training after the completion of trade qualifications. As technology and techniques rapidly advance each year, the issue of where to find training escalates and becomes more difficult to resolve. LSC has been aware of this for some time, so a starter training package has been developed as a solution for any locksmith looking for training on electronic security. This learning program has been designed for new or marginally experienced installers of various electronic security products. The content has been designed appropriately for new installers, but also contains enough detailed information to suit refresher training.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the training you will gain a knowledge of cable soldering techniques, cable fault finding techniques, correct use of a multimeter (to help diagnose current and resistance values), network cable testing, cable tracing and cabling application techniques. This knowledge will enhance your ability to quote and execute new incoming customer inquiries may relate to any of the electronic security specialties.

Yours to keep

Included in the course fee is a gas Soldering iron, solder, digital multimeter, network cable tester, wire cutters and strippers, which will be used during some of the practical elements of the program. This kit has an approximate recommended retail value of $264.70. Please note this package is mandatory for the program.
