25-27 October 2018 | Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa
Locksmiths from all over Australia and New Zealand converged on the sunny Gold Coast for the National MLAA Conference & Exhibition. The Gold Coast is a popular destination and this year was no exception as over 525 attendees packed into the Marriot Resort & Spa. LSC were delighted to be attending once again and our stand showcased the best products from our leading brands.
The program over the 3 days included a great mix of business and skills sessions, a trade exhibition and the opportunity to network with old colleagues, friends and suppliers. This year’s Golf Day was held at the Palmer Resort in Robina, 37 golfers enjoyed almost perfect weather for 18 holes. The AGM featured keynote speaker, Critical Care Paramedic, Peter Davidson, who was aboard the first rescue helicopter to reach survivors in the ill-fated 1998 Sydney to Hobart yacht race. His story was captivating and inspiring.
The Gala dinner on the Saturday night attracted over 300 people which made for a sensational evening.
The Master of Ceremonies for the Gala Dinner was Brain Nankervis from hit SBS music trivia show Rockwiz. He made the evening light-hearted and full of laughter. Highlights included the announcement of the winner of the 2018 John Andrew Apprentice of the year Competition, the awarding of Life Memberships to former National President David Rees and the presentation of the Albert Chantry Award to Life Member Cliff Forrester. Congratulations to Riley Davison from ASAP Locksmiths in Melbourne for winning the John Andrew Apprentice of the Year competition. Once again, ABUS & Silca sponsored this prestigious award and we are sure Riley and his mentor will find visiting the ABUS facility in Germany and the Silca facility in Italy both rewarding and enjoyable.
Thank you to our overseas partners for joining us for show, these included Andre Winterhoff from ABUS, Enrico DePoli and Fabrizio Lante from Silca. Thank you to our LSC staff who helped create the buzz at our ‘Home of Security’ stand for the 2 days of the Expo.
Next year we head to Auckland NZ – we can’t wait!
